Four years ago, Spencer was in business school but not quite sure what he wanted to do with his life. A do-it-yourself mechanic, he had a revelation after buying a wrecked car for parts for his own vehicle – maybe he could sell the leftovers on eBay. One sale led to another, and pretty soon he was moving enough units to quit school and start his own business. Spencer rented a 1,200 square foot shop that he outgrew in a year. He hired two employees and rented a 2,500 square foot space and outgrew that, as well. Today, Spencer has eight full-time employees and maintains a 20,000 square foot warehouse.
